A concentrated beam of light targets the pigment in the hair follicle. The energy converts to heat, damaging the follicle that produces the hair while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed. Because hair grows in cycles and the laser only affects follicles in their active growth phase, a series of sessions is needed to treat every follicle at the right time.
Every Semper Laser treatment is performed with the Candela GentleMax Pro, an FDA-cleared, medical-grade laser trusted by providers worldwide. It combines two wavelengths, a 755nm Alexandrite and a 1064nm Nd:YAG, so treatments can be precisely matched to your skin tone and hair type, with built-in cooling that protects your skin on every pulse.
Almost anywhere you have unwanted hair: face, underarms, arms, legs, bikini and Brazilian, chest, back, stomach, neck, shoulders, hands, and feet. Your specialist will customize a plan around the areas you care about most.
Absolutely. Back, chest, shoulders, stomach, and neckline are among our most popular treatments for men at every Semper Laser location.
Laser hair removal works best on dark hair because the laser targets pigment. Blonde, gray, red, or very fine hair carries little to no pigment, which makes it difficult for the laser to detect and treat. Your specialist will assess your hair during your consultation and set honest expectations.
Yes. It is one of the best treatments for ingrown hairs, razor bumps, and strawberry legs. By targeting the follicle at the root, laser removes the source of the irritation instead of just managing it.
Most clients complete 10 to 12 sessions for optimal, long-lasting results. Hair grows in cycles and the laser can only treat follicles in their active growth phase, so multiple visits are needed to catch every hair. Your specialist will map out a personalized plan during your free consultation.
Treated hairs typically shed within 14 to 21 days of your first session, and most clients see about a 10% reduction in growth with each treatment. Results build steadily from there; by session 10 to 12, most clients reach up to 85% hair reduction.
Laser hair removal delivers long-term reduction rather than guaranteed permanent removal. Most clients enjoy dramatic, lasting smoothness, though hormones, genetics, and age can reactivate some follicles over time. An occasional maintenance session keeps results at their best.
Sessions are typically spaced every 6 to 8 weeks to match your hair growth cycle, with intervals gradually stretching as growth slows. Most clients complete their initial treatment plan within 12 to 18 months.
Small areas like the upper lip or underarms take under 10 minutes, medium areas about 15, and large areas like full legs or the back up to 30. Most clients are in and out on a lunch break.
That is shedding, not regrowth. Treated hairs disconnect from the follicle and push out over the 14 to 21 days after your session, which can look like new growth as they work their way to the surface. Once shedding completes, you will enjoy a noticeably smoother, hair-free stretch.
No. Most clients describe each pulse as a quick rubber-band snap that fades the moment the laser lifts, and built-in cooling counteracts the warmth in real time. Treatments do not get more painful over time; as hair thins with each session, most clients find visits easier, not harder.
Yes. Treatments are performed with the FDA-cleared Candela GentleMax Pro by trained laser technicians, and the laser uses non-ionizing light that targets hair follicles only. Semper's adverse reaction rate averages about 0.03%, one of the lowest in the industry.
Yes. The GentleMax Pro's dual wavelengths let us treat all skin tones safely and effectively, including deeper skin tones that single-wavelength lasers struggle to serve. Your specialist calibrates every setting to your individual skin and hair.
No, you can return to your normal routine right away. Just skip heat, heavy sweating, and exercise for 24 to 48 hours, and keep the treated area out of direct sun for two weeks.
Mild redness, warmth, or slight swelling around the follicles, similar to a light sunburn, is normal and usually settles within a few hours to a day. Your technician will walk you through simple aftercare at every visit.
We do not treat during pregnancy, as research on laser treatments while pregnant is limited. Breastfeeding clients can be treated, and we are happy to pause and resume your plan around your pregnancy.
Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your visit, avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for the two weeks prior, and skip waxing, plucking, or threading for at least four weeks. Arrive with clean skin, with no lotion, deodorant, or makeup on the area being treated.
Shaving clears hair at the surface while leaving the follicle intact, so the laser's energy travels straight to the root. Hair left above the skin absorbs that energy instead, which reduces results and increases discomfort.
You'll need to wait at least four weeks. Those methods remove the entire hair from the follicle, and the laser needs the follicle present to target it. Shaving, on the other hand, is encouraged between sessions.
Not yet. Recently tanned or spray-tanned skin carries extra surface pigment that attracts the laser, raising the risk of irritation and reducing effectiveness. Wait until your skin returns to its natural tone (spray tans typically need two to three weeks to fully fade), then come see us.
Yes. A free consultation lets us assess your skin and hair, review your health history, and build a personalized plan. Arrive clean-shaven and sun-free for the best chance of starting treatment the same day.
For 24 to 48 hours, skip hot showers, saunas, hot tubs, exercise, and anything that makes you sweat, and keep makeup, deodorant, and fragranced products off the treated area. Avoid direct sun exposure for two weeks and wear SPF 30 or higher daily.
You can shave 24 hours after treatment as long as your skin is calm and irritation-free. Just avoid waxing, plucking, or threading between sessions, since those remove the root the laser needs to target.
Begin gentle exfoliation three days after your session, two to three times per week. It helps treated hairs shed smoothly during the 14 to 21 day shedding window.
Pricing depends on the area and package you choose, and it is standardized across every Semper Laser location. Flexible monthly payments are available through CareCredit, Affirm, PatientFi, and Alphaeon, plus our in-house Semper Credit, or you can simply pay in full. Your free consultation includes an exact, no-pressure quote.
Third-party financing starts with a soft credit check that does not impact your score; a hard inquiry only happens if you accept terms with a specific lender. And if third-party financing isn't a fit, our in-house Semper Credit is available for everyone.
Our 12-session package includes unlimited lifetime touch-ups at no additional cost, so once you complete your plan you're covered for the occasional maintenance session. Clients on other packages can add touch-ups at any time.
Please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before your appointment time. Appointments must also be confirmed by 4:00 PM the day prior; unconfirmed appointments may be released, and missed confirmed appointments are subject to a no-show fee.
There is a five-minute grace period, so call your location to let us know you're on the way. Depending on the schedule, your session may need to be shortened or rescheduled, and late arrivals may be subject to a late fee.
Life happens. Book your next session as soon as you can and your plan picks up right where you left off. Staying close to your recommended schedule is what keeps results on track.
