Maynard grew up around the Assabet Mills, and when the looms stopped Digital Equipment moved in and ran one of the great computer companies out of the same brick, now Mill & Main. The wildlife refuge behind it still has the bunkers the Army left. Concord, Sudbury and Acton are each within ten minutes, which puts Walden Pond, the Old North Bridge and the Wayside Inn practically next door.
